WHAT'S NEW

Value Education Classes

Our Value Education Programe for college-going youth in Bangalore entered its 4th year in 2009. Members of The Family India in Bangalore has been conducting weekly value education classes for college students in Vasant Nagar since 2005. These weekly classes focus on topics like Success and Failure, Peer Pressure, Stress and Positivity. The classes are an interactive blend of music, skits and games and hold the students’ attention.

Students are also counselled on a personal level if the need arises, giving them a platform to share the many challenges they face. The feedback on the effects these classes have on the students has been very positive! “You really made our value education class fun and practical! Hope you’ll be back next week!” is a typical response to our programmes.

Starting Point celebrates Independence Day

The Starting Point pre-schools run by members of The Family India provide free education and a comprehensive personality development for underprivileged children from slum areas of Bangalore. So what better way to celebrate Independence Day with these children than by making it a fun, all-round enjoyable experience for them?

Each child took part in a lively music, dance and game programme. Volunteers interacted with the children and made tri-colour flags with them. Everyone then had a delicious lunch. Adding to the colour of the occasion (quite literally) was a ‘Touch Wall’, where each of the volunteers who sponsored a child got to place their hand print next to the hand print of the child they sponsored. It was a beautiful sight to see the Touch Wall fill up with small and large handprints – symbolic of a commitment to impact a life!
